The Wonder World is a project aimed at making an online role playing game that thrills all RPG lovers out there.
It will have a 3D graphics view. Lots of quests. NPCs for you to meet. Hordes of monsters.
Now that I have said that I can tell you that this project was started some weeks ago and will not have any demo, beta tests or anything else to test for quite a while. I will however listen to all your thoughts about what a good online RPG should contain, feel free to email me on jc@mbox309.swipnet.se or write a message on the Message Board. The Wonder World is just a first working name, it will probably change in the next few weeks.

We decided that the game should have a dungeon master utility, where almost all aspects of the game can be changed during gametime. The DM will have the possibility to change the monster strength, give hints and lots other nice stuff. The game will be open for everyone to set up their own server. There will be a world editor for this. The classes in the game will be:
There will be a workshop 99-10-31. It will concentrate on getting everyone up to speed on essential issues, like matrices, lighting and general VB code writing.
Also corrected lots of spelling errors. There are probably some left but the most annoying are gone. Also linked the documents to a Cascading style sheet to make the looks a little better.
I have added some backgrounds, to let the not colour-blind go crazy over the design. Wonder World logo added. It seems like the name will live for another week or two. I added a Message Board, please give us a lot of ideas. Every thought is welcome. I also added a personal diary for all the developers where we write down a little of what they have done and are working on. Expect frequent updates from some and less frequent from others.

We will meet and discuss the first draft of the game. Already decided is that it will be in a fantasy environment. It will contain several different races and classes. The questing will be a major part of the game. It will also probably have a very restricted player-killing feature.
Decisions on the meeting: It was decided that the character should have a major goal to work for. In reaching this goal the character will take part in several subplots. It was debated how the action part of the game would be handled. Should it be possible to play the game without killing a single monster? We decided that this was probably not so but we let this point be open.
This first meeting has been held to form the Wonder World project team. We are at the moment a team of 6 people working on the project. We are all professional developers, though not in the area of game making. To meet with the team look at the Production team. It was decided that we would aim high and try to create a Client - server game with 3D graphics. We will use all the benefits of the Microsoft DirectX 7. We will also try and use Visual basic as far as possible (hopefully all the way). It will be a free floating 3D engine (no game rounds).
This meeting will formalize the environment so that it's possible to draw some test environments. There will be brief summaries of each programming area that is included.
