Background





In any occupation there are a range of core skills which are useful on a day-to-day basis. Many of these are personal skills such as the ability to give good oral presentations, prepare clear and concise reports, manage your time, or work in teams. Others rely on a good working knowledge of computer technology including word processors, spreadsheets, statistical software and the internet. This module seeks to equip you with these transferable core skills.

Aims

To develop competence in the broad range of tranferable core skills required by professional people, with particular focus on those needed in coastal management.

Objectives




By the end of the module, you will have aquired a broad portfolio of computer-based and personal skills which will assist you in the effective gathering, management, analysis, display, written and oral reporting, and dissemination of information. These include keyboard, word processing, spreadsheet, information technology, statistical analysis, database, internet, web page authoring, management and presentation skills.
