SMTP is the protocol that internet mail is sent with. By directly connect to SMTP server with Telnet (windows\telnet.exe) and commanding the server manually, you could very easy send a fake anonymous email to any adress you want. While you are keeping your own adress secret. ------------------------------------------------------------- *Is there anyway my email could be traced? In the header of the mail you could read what Ip adress the person which sent the message telneted from. But if you have internet account that randomly chooses a IP number when you connected to internet then you are quite safe. But the best thing is to telnet from local free computer with no logging of any kind. ------------------------------------------------------------- *Anything I need? You do not need any programs exept a telnet client. Telnet or hyperterminal which both comes with Windows is capable to use in this little hack. You should turn local echo on, so you can see what you type. ------------------------------------------------------------- *SMTP Most SMTP are very buggy. In fact SMTP are called the buggiest daemon on earth. You should try to send the fake email trough the oldest SMTP you could find. SMTP's with version 3.3.2.* should work real fine and the message will probebly reach it's destination. Try to use universities and goverment servers, they will work almost every time. Avoid servers with high versions like 8.*.*. If you want servers to mail from, just search via Yahoo or something like. Telnet to port 25 the selected url. If you got response then you have found a SMTP server. ------------------------------------------------------------- *How do I perform this hack? First off all you should telnet your target SMTP on port 25. The SMTP will then welcome you with a short message. If you want to see which commands you can use type help, ? or man. Then type HELO domain.name. Example HELO noone.org. On many SMTP servers you could type any domainname since they don't check the name against the IP you are telneting from. But some servers do. After that type MAIL FROM:what@ever.com. This is who the mail will come from. You don't have to use *.com, instead try to use org, net etc. Then type RCPT TO:what@ever.com. The mail will come to this adress. By typing in many different RCPT you will send the message to group of people. Finally type DATA, and type the body of the message. End the message by typing a single period on a singel line. ------------------------------------------------------------- *Last tip Try to telnet port 110 sometime. Thats where all the messages arrive... ------------------------------------------------------------- *Disclaimer This text is for educational purpose only.
