The TOP M60E3 is delivered in long brown carton from where you can earth the very impressive looking airsoft-machinegun, which real counterpart is used by US Marines and airborne troops. Up to 80% of it is made by metal giving great looks and weight, not mentioning the durability of external parts. Pistol grip and front grip are the only parts made of plastic. M60E3 has nice moving parts: front sight, hop up regulator behind it, safety, bipod and ammo box opener. Overall the appearance of the gun could hardly be any better and countless required gun posing pictures can be taken with this thing.
Operation and performance. TOP M60E3 has unique loading mechanism. Ammo chamber holds 1200 BBs and under the chamber is rotating feeder that inserts bbs into long loading hose. This works normally fine, but causes problems when shooting downwards from higher position, since the bbs wont drop into rotater while shooting.
When I was visiting TOP they had this model under deveploment and the
company president told that M60E3 has improved the mechanism, when compared to their earlier M60 models, resulting in better reliability. This one has currently about 60.000 shot fired and it is still functioning flawlessly.
Range is same as in most Marui AEGs, but Hop Up is more effective than standard and you can overtune it, when you just have to get more range. Now that ANGS has released their tuneup cylinder set for E3, you can get even more power out of this great gun. There is also some more powerfull springs out there, but these are not probably the best choice, since you cannot get other custom parts required for complete tuneup. Firing rate is also about same than in Marui AEGs and good thing is that you can reload the 1200 BBs very quickly, because of the quick opening hatch in ammo chamber. The TOP 9.6v 1500mA battery lasts for incredible 8.000-10.000 rounds, which is due to new mechanism in gun.
Tactically, this is excellent airsoft gun to have in your team. With quick reload possibility you can dominate the battle from good firing position. Obviously, E3 is best in defending positions and in giving cover fire to your advancing team mates. Its firepower gives many options to whole team and enables to attack those positions that normally would be very difficult to take. Only disadvantage is that it is rather clumsy in assaulting and inflitrating missions even as shortened version.
Sights are quite simple and rough, but that doesn matter much as this is "spray-and-pray" weapon like it has been meant to be.
Summary
Excellent airsoft-team fire support weapon. No wonder they call this in Japan as "the dream of airsoft gamer". Expect the new TOP M60E3 Long version appear soon.
