What is Kung Fu:

Kung Fu is a western name for the Chinese martial arts and translates to “ability” or “skill”.. Martial arts have been practiced in China for more than a thousand years. In the Shaolin monasteries the martial arts were developed by the monks. They created a system of movements by studying various animals and their ways of defending themselves. These techniques of defense were adopted by the monks and made to fit the human body

Choy Gar Kung Fu:

The style Choy Gar was founded by Choy Gau Lee and developed in southern China. It’s a self-defense system with a low stance and a footwork with the speed of the rat. The body and arms move like the snake’s fast attacks. The low stance and the forceful hand techniques will in time develop an inner strength, and is one of the conditions necessary to develop an effective way of movement. Only by doing so will the depth of the art be understood. The philosophy behind Kung Fu is in the east of utmost importance. To the students the training is more or less an upbringing and their daily lives are characterized by morals and traditions.

In Sweden:

In 1977 Adolfo Alstersund introduced Choy Gar to Sweden. In 1980 the club was founded. In 1983 the club was made a member of SVENSKA BUDOFÖRBUNDET.

Sifu (master) Adolfo Alstersund has, since he was 13 years old, been training under Sifu Fidel Wong in Lima, Peru and has 26 years of experience as an instructor.

The Choy Gar Kung Fu Club is a traditional club where the individual is put in center. The club puts great emphasis on each student’s own qualities and abilities.
