Welcome to my album chart. The chart has nothing to do with any sales of the records. My chart shows every week what is my favourite albums at the moment. The main criteria are for be on the chart is that I have the album on CD or tape. The only thing that matters is my feelings about the record. The chart is purely based on my personal taste. Important is if I been listening to the album lately. If I also like it surely will rise on the chart. Sometime ago this chart was nominate as site of the day on the Swedish newspaper 'Expressen' site. You can check it out here.
At the moment I about to rearrange how this page a bit. I hope that it will in the end be a better page than it was.
Sometimes you might notice that albums that are not that new are high on the chart. One example is Sheryl Crow with her second album, the reason that Sheryl took over 52 weeks to reach the top position is that it took me sometime to discover what a great album it really was.

There have been over 250 charts since the first one back in 1991. The first chart #1 one the chart was Rainbirds with their third album "Two faces". It only stayed one week at number one before Rainbirds second album went to the #1 as a new entry. Over the years Rainbirds have had 7 number ones on my chart. The artist that has spent most week with one album is Sarah McLachlan. Her album "Fumbling towards ecstasy" stayed 12 weeks at #1 back in 1996. This year Heather Nova has with her third album "Siren" been the longest at #1 with 8 week (w.23-30). |

A new week a new #1 has been the theme so far this year. This week The Merrymakers 2nd album goes straight into to #1. This after I heard them for the first time when they was playing live on Swedish Radio on Monday (26 of January, the same day the album was released). The Merrymakers is a Swedish band from Piteå (in the north of Sweden). Last weeks #1 Fra lippo lippi managed only to stay one week, before losing out to The Merrymakers. Last week Rainbirds made a big recovery, but this week they lose it and drop 5 places. At #45 Nationalteatern hits the chart for the first time with their Greatest hits album from 1988. On this album there are many songs from albums that my father has and I listen to when I was younger. It's nice to hear these songs again after all these years. This week Jewel with her 1994 album Pieces of you are still at #5. It took sometime for me to convinced that Jewel was something that I might like. The first step was a concert with her on Swedish Radio that I taped and listen to sometimes and really liked. Recently I started to like the song Foolish game, but when I looked at the CD at my local record store they had on lower than usual normal price. I decided to buy it and at the same time I found Merril Bainbridge's album The garden that was on sale. Regina Lund this week at #2 with the album Unique is also for moment staring in a Swedish TV-series called "Aspiranterna". The series is about the police school and it follows a few people through their education to become cops. Like all TV series in theses days the cast of show it's political correct. Regina Lund's album hasn't made a big impact on the Swedish album chart. It only spent three weeks on the chart with a peek at #41. last weeks highest new entry comes from a local band called The Mopeds. Their debut album The hills are alive with the sound of mopeds entered the chart at #31 and are at #22. On the CD they have included both videos to their two first singles Lizard and Kid is alright. The record were recorded in the Tambourine studios in Malmö. In this recording studio The Cardigans have recorded their albums. Souls have stoped their climb this week. The main reason to their recent climb up the chart is they have split up and I recently saw the video for the song Cellofor the first time. |
