Welcome to my album chart. This week I have changed the design of the page as you might notice (if you have been here before. I hope that you like it! Now everything is working fine with my computer so I hope to be quicker to update my chart. After a not updated the Internet chart for some weeks I am back. The main reason that I haven't been updating my chart is that my computer crashed. It has taken sometime to get everything to work, as it should I have now also added a best of 1998 chart that you can look at.
The chart has nothing to do with any sales of the records. My chart shows every week what is my favourite albums at the moment. The main criteria are for be on the chart is that I have the album on CD or tape. The only thing that matters is my feelings about the record. The chart is purely based on my personal taste. Important is if I been listening to the album lately. If I also like it surely will rise on the chart. Sometime ago this chart was nominate as site of the day on the Swedish newspaper 'Expressen' site on the 4th of July 1998.
At the moment I about to rearrange how this page a bit. I hope that it will in the end be a better page than it was.
Sometimes you might notice that albums that are not that new are high on the chart. One example is Sheryl Crow with her second album, the reason that Sheryl took over 52 weeks to reach the top position is that it took me sometime to discover what a great album it really was.
|
After nearly 300 charts since the first back in 1991 there have been some different artist that dominated the chart. The first two weeks of the chart in 1991 Rainbirds did managed to have two different albums at #1. The first week it was 'Two faces' and the second week it was 'Call me easy…' was #1. Over the years since 1991, Rainbirds has had 7 different #1 albums on the album chart. In 1996 Sarah McLachlan did spend 12 straight weeks at #1 with her album 'Fumbling towards ecstasy'. Last year Heather Nova did spend 8 weeks at #1 with her album 'Siren'. |
|
This week Chantel Kreviazuk gets her first #1 on the chart with the 1997 album 'Under these rocks and stones'. Chantel Kreviazuk then replace last weeks #1 Lene Marlin with her album 'Playing my game' and on the 26 of April Lene release it in Sweden and Denmark. In the top 10 it is only #10 that not has a female that sings. David Baerwald continue to re enter the top 10 (been outside one week this time). John Hiatt nearly made it in to the top 10 this week with the album 'Riding with the king'. |
