  Rainbirds

Rainbirds
Released in 1987

Band members:
Wolfgang Glum, Katharina Frank and Beckman

On the first album from Rainbirds the band was a trio. The members were Beckman, Katharina Frank and Wolfgang Glum. This was the breakthrough album that made Rainbirds known. This is the album from the Rainbirds that sounds mostly mainstream pop. With songs like Boy on the beach and Blueprint and other good songs. But not all songs sounds like mainstream pop songs on the album example We make love falling.

On the second album the band included on guitars Rodrigo Gonzalez. The album starts of with the song Love was already there to be found shows that music has changed a bit from the debut album. This album is one the best that Rainbirds done so far. The album was released 2 years after the first album. The song Sea of time includs three parts - Rocking song, Time and Call me easy..., this song nearly 10 minutes long.

Two faces
Released in 1991

Band members:
Katharina Frank and Ulrike Haage

On the third record only Katharina Frank remains from the original band. On Two faces Ulrike Haage have joined the band. This is the album that I bought first after having seen the video for Two faces on TV. The video was directed by Anton Corbijn. In the song The world is growing old is one line I think is interesting "...All dance when I bang the right drum. When I'm on the wrong track, I erase what I had.". The album both starts and end with the song Two faces.

In a different light
Released in 1993

Band members:
Katharina Frank and Ulrike Haage

The forth album In a different light was to be their last record on Mercury. The music is bit different that of the previous albums. Rainbirds have on this album included song that are not English Pessoa 1934 and Jamais Jamais. The songs on the album are as always like all Rainbirds song - very good. One of my favorite songs on the album is A waltz for Jane.

Making memory
Released in 1996
(18/3)

Band members:
Katharina Frank, Ulrike Haage and Tim Lorenz

The fifth album Making memory came as a suprise for me to find out that the record was released. A friend of mine was in Berlin and found the record. After having the record on tape about a year I finally got my own copy in the summer of ´97. This is one these albums that don't have one great song, but all songs are great. One I used to miss wher the lyrics to the songs, now I got them. The last song on Making memory - Memory have become one of my favorite songs on the album. The song is perfect to end to the album.

Forever
Released in 1997

Band members:
Katharina Frank, Ulrike Haage and Tim Lorenz

Rainbirds have now released their 6th studio album in Germany (on the oct.6th 1997) called Forever. The album continues with the sound from Making memory. The first single from Forever is Don't cry a river for me (be cool) and it was released on the Sept. 15th in Germany. The song is great, but takes some listings to get a grip of it's greatness. The first songs from the album I heard was those on promo cassette that I got from Rainbirds merchandise after hearing these songs my expectations was high on the album. After having listening to Forever a lot I can say it's as good as I hoped. The album was recorded in the Belgian Ardennes. The songs demands some time before they show their true quality. The album starts of with Time comes round to pass and after that is 12 other great songs.
