Are you connected to the Artist Direct? Are you fans? Why are you here? Tom: hum... we love the internet, when we're not making music... well, ok, I do (laughs) the rest of these guys trust me that the internet is a pretty cool new invention so we’re on to it. Chris Carter: Any other thoughts on that? Adrian: no Gwen: (laughs) Tony: We like to steal governments’ secrets from the Internet, that’s what we use it for. Chris Carter: Is that right? Tony: that’s what we do. Adrian: porno Tony: ... and porn, the fine porn, but you always have to pay for that. Chris Carter: You guys want to take a quick phonecall? Gwen: sure! Chris Carter: It’s Chris from Toronto online too, Chris are you there? Chris: Hello? Chris Carter: Talk to No Doubt, can you hear Chris? Chris: Hello? Gwen: Hello! Chris Carter: Hello Chris? Gwen: We can't hear you Chris! Chris: Can't hear anything? Adrian: uh-uh-uh-uh Chris Carter: Chris? Scream! Chris: Hello? Chris Carter: I can hear you now, go! I'll relay the call! Chris: Ah, man! This new technology, I don't know... Can you hang on? Chris Carter: No, we can hear you now, go... Chris: I'm running, I'm running to another phone, maybe it's the phone, I don't think so Chris Carter: Oh... for God’s sake...I'll have another question, one that you can hear
Chris: Hello? Adrian: Imperial Beach! Chris Carter: Imperial Beach, of course!! Tony: We’ve had some good shows in Europe... We’ve had some amazing shows in Spain..The people in Spain are really passionate. They love to get naked and watch when you play. Chris Carter: What size crowds did you guys draw in Spain? Tony: hum...gosh... We played with different size crowds, I guess, we played for 10 people and played for 10 000 people, it's just different Chris Carter: Wow!... And you said some of them were naked? Tony: All of them! All of them are naked...
Chris Carter: All of them?
Gwen: hum... interesting question... Chris Carter: Really?? What period Cure?
Gwen: The early days, I don’tknow... Chris Carter: ... growing and maturing as songwriters... Gwen: We’re growing and maturing as songwriters. Yeah, that’s basicly what we're doin'... Chris Carter: And when is it slaited to come out? Gwen: hum... Tony: hum... February...hopefully... Chris Carter: Ferbruary 2000!!! Tony: 2000, yes! Chris Carter: That sounds funny, doesn’t it?! Tony: it does! Chris Carter: Hey, how is our phonecaller doing? Toronto? Is he gone?... So you work with the great Jim Garanonow right? I knew Jim Garano, God, in the old days you wouldn’t even know the Jim Garano I knew, he was drunk on my floor telling me how great the Rolling Stones were once and .... Tony: He was drunk in our dressing room, like 5 minutes ago Chris Carter: Get out of here! I find that hard to believe! How about one more question guys? Timothy from Ireland: do you guys write as a band or individualy, asks Timothy from Ireland? Tom: hum... We write both as a band and individualy, and this is the first time I must say that Gwen has written a couple of songs all by herself, and there is no... Chris Carter: Very nice Gwen! The guys:(applauses) Gwen: Thank you! Chris Carter: All by yourself... What’s the name of the songs that you wrote? Gwen: The one that I wrote by myself are called “Simple Kind of Life” and “Suspension without suspense”. Chris Carter: Wow... crafty titles... Gwen: thank you (laughs) Chris Carter: So.. real quick, this whole marriage of music and the internet which has been really coming into fruision... in the last few years, what are your thoughts on that? I know a lot of new bands find it really great because they can get their stuff out there and a lot of the established bands somewhat get a little nervous about it because you know they are downloading music... What are your thoughts on the whole combo of music and the internet? Gwen: I think that the really cool part for us is that we’ve always been really involved with our fans, I mean we use to have, you know, mail, all of our mail we used to write back to our fans, and we were always in really close contact so this way is like a direct way to be really really close to our fans and to get like right on it. This whole tour that we’re doing right now was basically... hum... you know, mentioned on the internet and people that knew about it was just because of the internet, so, in that way...yeah? Tony: Excactly, you’re right! Chris Carter: There you go! Hey guys, before you go, a big “we love Artist Direct”, huh? There you go! Gwen: We love Artist... Chris Carter: ... Direct... Gwen: ... Direct
