Kurupt (Ricardo Emanuel Brown) is one half of Tha Dogg Pound, a group who has taken a break while Kurupt and other member Daz pursue their solo carriers. Together they released "Dogg Food" in 1995 on Death Row Records, it featured hits like "New York New York" and "Let's Play House". He made his first apperarances on Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" and Snoop's "Doggystyle", and after that a lot of other records. In 1998 he released his first solo album "Kuruption!" on his own label Antra Records, it's a double album, one East Coast disc and a West Coast disc, to represent both Philadelphia where he was born and Los Angeles where he moved later and where he made it as a rapper. Kurupt might not be where he is today if he hadn't crashed his mom's car when he was 15. He "borrowed" it without her promission to go see some friends, but he got so nervous when he saw a neighbor that he drove into the car in front of him, wrecking his mom's motor. She was furious, and she realized her son needed a male rolemodel so she asked him if he wanted to go live with his dad in South Central L.A., Kurupt thought it was a good idea and soon after that he moved to California. Sharon Hills in Philadelphia, where Kurupt is from, is a quiet suburb far from the gang violence of South Central L.A. In L.A. he met Snoop Doggy Dogg, and they promised each other that the first one who would get signed should hook the other one up. Kurupt was engaged to Foxy Brown, but they broke the engagement, and now they're just friends. He also has daughters and a one year old son. He says "When you have children is when you realize you have something to live for, it's changed how I walk on the street and my whole attitude." After he has finished his tour promoting "Kuruption!" he's gonna make a movie. He's gonna play a Philly mob underboss, the film will also feature Snoop Dogg as a West Coast underboss and might be directed by Dr. Dre.
