Four Four One 4 4 1

Four Four One is quite an interesting trick. People often ask me if I'm juggling three or four balls when I do this trick. If you know siteswap notation you'll probably understand the trick right away. The trick follows the normal cascade rythm which means that the hands take turns in throwing. I'll describe the trick from a cold start. Take two balls in your dominant hand and one ball in you other hand. Start by throwing a ball stright up from you right han the following throw is a ball straight up from your left hand. Directly after this throw (actually it isn't directly, but it feels like it) you hand over the ball in your right hand. Catch the balls and think a bit about what you just did. You threw two balls in two columns and let the third ball switch hand without being thrown. The next throw (when you have thrown the three balls and not catched them) will be that the feeded ball (the one that was handed across) will start a new cycle which is a reflection of the last one. The feeded ball is thrown straight up from your left hand. The next throw goes straight up from your right hand and the last ball gets handed across from your left hand to your right hand. Keep on going and you´ve got the trick.

This trick is very hard to explain on paper (or on screen) so if you know a juggler, have him/her teach you.
