Siteswap Notation

Have you ever wondered what all those numbers stand for? Well here is the answer. They are juggling numbers. For example, the cascade has the number 3.

The different numbers are throwing heights. Consider this:

Notice that all odd numbers go to the hand that wasn't throwing and all even numbers go to the same hand that throwed. So if you once again think about the three ball cascade - 3. Expand the 3 to a row of 3:s - 33333333... Now as every throw is a three ball cascade throw and the hands take turn in throwing (they always do when using siteswap notation), you've got your three ball cascade

Another example could be the slow cascade - 522. Do as you did before, expand 522 to 522522522522522... Now the RH throws a five ball cascade throw, then LH does nothing, then RH does nothing, then LH throws a five ball cascade throw. If I say that the first thrown 5 will land in the LH now you probably want to know how I knew that. It's easy. If you throw a 5 it will come down 5 beats later 51 22 23 54 25. The last 2 is the first thrown ball.

This might be a bit messy. Check out the siteswap FAQ for more info.
