HISTORY

1400 the origin of Göteborg lies in Lödöse, 40 kilometers up the Göta älv river. During the 11th century Lödöse grew into a town. The name Göteborg appeared for the first time briefly between 1607 and 1611 at
what is now the northern end of the Älvsborg bridge on the island Hisingen. Göteborg currently has close to 500,000 inhabitants and is the second largest city of Sweden, surpassed only by the
capital, Stockholm.
