AIIC - Association International des Interprètes de Conference - is the International Association of Conference Interpreters in Geneva .
AIIC is a professional association for conference interpreters (oral translation in real time), but does not represent translators (who work with written texts).
One of the things AIIC does is to increase awareness of conference interpreting and improve working conditions for interpreters.
AIIC fosters high quality interpretation by supporting research and training.
To become a member interpreters must have worked for more than 150 days and have other interpreters who can vouch for their professional competence.
AIIC Sweden has 34 members.
AIIC members comply with the organisation's Professional Standard and are bound by professional secrecy.
AIIC interpreters will not undertake assignments if they feel that they are beyond their competence.
Every assignment demands preparation.
AIIC is not an agency that provides interpreters.
Some individual members can, however, arrange and organise interpretation.
