We visited Fitzroy island and Great Barrier Reef during February 1994, there we stayed in a longhouse. It is a small island and here is where we took our openwater certificate. The island it self is very tropical with huge forests and they have cockatoos flying around, huge lizards and snakes.
At the outer reef we stayed one day at Moore reef, there they had one big pontoon anchored on the reef. During our stay we saw lionfishes, turtles, parrotfishes and when we were on board the boat we saw a few sharks. The visibility in the water around Fitzroy island was really bad and there was a lot of jellyfishes, we did not se very much around the island. But at the great barrierreef the visibility was very good and there is where we saw all the fishes during our stay in Australia.
