Scuba diving at Sharm el Sheikh at the Red Sea

We visited Sharm el Sheikh during July 1994, there we stayed at a nice bungalow hotel in the east part of Sharm el Sheikh. It is a quiet village even if there are lots of restaurants and bars, everyone there are divers and after 23:00 almost everyone is asleep and dreaming about the wonderful dive sites that they will experience next day. One of the best dive sites is in the nationalpark called Ras Muhammed. On dive site is called shark reef, there is a shipwreck with toilets and bathtubs that invites to funny underwater photos. At the same site there is also a huge Napoleonfish, that always hangs around because it is used to be fed with eggs, but it not any longer allowed.

Clownfish

In Ras Muhammed there is also a divesite called Jackfish cave, where there are several caves. Here in Sharm el Sheikh we took our advanced open water certificate at Red Sea diving collage. One of the interesting things during the course was a deep dive down to 42 meters, where we tested our bodies to see if we got nitrogen narcosis. We were alright but we felt like moving in slow-motion and the air felt thick. During our stay we saw shipwrecks and parrotfishes, boxfishes, lionfishes, napoleonfishes, clownfishes, morayeels, blue spotted stingrays, nude branches, nursesharks, barracudas, turtles and many more spices. Sharm el Sheikh is situated in the dessert so there in not much to se around the village. But the diving was fantastic.
