Joacim & Anders gay guide to Boston, Toronto, Provincetown and New York.
Boston, Toronto, Provincetown and New York 1999
I went to Boston during June 1999, to visit my boyfriend Anders who I have been together with for 9 years, he moved to Boston in November 1998. In Boston we went to the club Buzz on Saturday night, On Sunday afternoons Club Café is very good, during the day the Esplanade by the water is beautiful and crusie. Boston as a city is very nice with mostly low houses in an English style.
We took Anders car to Toronto for the Gay Pride, the ride took 12 hours from Boston. In Toronto we stayed at Hotel Selby at 592 Sherbourne St. We attended all the big party's, so we had a hectic weekend. One of the funniest party was the day party with waterguns, it was held on the roof at a house in the harbor in Toronto. It was sunny and we where a few hundred boys that were dancing in their shorts and plashing each other with waterguns. We saw the big parade, it was very popular by the audience to splash the parade with
waterguns, but the persons in the parade did not enjoy it.
We took Anders car to Provincetown to stay at Charles Guest house at 68 Bradford St. During the day the gay beach is fun to relax on, you need all the strength to stand through the evening and night. The Teadance is at The Boatslip, and after that you move on to The After Teadance and in the night after some barhopping it is time for showing your stuff on the dancefloor at the Ahouse. We also saw the 4:th of Juli Parade in Provincetown it was not so big but funny with all the dragqueens.
We flew to New York were we stayed at Chelsea Mews guesthouse at 344 West 15 Street. The gay area has moved from Greenwich Village to the area around 8:th avenue between 14:th street and 23:rd street. The most popular cafe is Big Cup at 228 8:th Avenue, 22:nd street. There are so many bars and clubs in New York and they are very close to each other, just cruise around until you find what you are looking for. On Saturday night you should go to Roxy at 515 West 18:th Street, it is the biggest gay club in New York. Lots of muscular guys to feel and look at. Enjoy, we did :-)
