	"Oratio på Pottan", which means "Oratio on the Chamber pot" or "Oratio in Trouble", is a classical Commedia dell´Arte-performance, with its roots in the Italian renaissance. The action is built around a simple love story which, in the usual style of Commedia dell´Arte, leads to misunderstandings and complications, with elements of robbery, fights, swaggering, sexual harassment and everything else that makes life worth living. Micke Klingvall, who has written "Oratio på Pottan", has used two 1600-century scenarios combined with improvisations of the ensemble and some straight acrobatic scenes. The noble characters in the performance always speak in verse, and Oratio på Pottan is full of music, colorful characters, and jolly pranks all in a good tempo.
Oratio på Pottan is Kompani Komedi's first production, and it is still in the repertoire, even if it has not been played for a long time now. Oratio på Pottan opened 15/2-96 in Salong Katakomb in Stockholm. One of the basic ideas when Kompani Komedi first put up the show at Salong Katakomb was that the audience mustn't get stuck in a we-are-going- to-the-theatre-feeling; instead we worked to create a party-feeling. The performance was three acts long, and included appearances by guest artists. We served beer and wine and the audience were sitting around tables.
	After the period at Salong Katakomb, Oratio på Pottan has been played in a lot of different versions and places. We played a one-act version in the Old Town of Stockholm, a short version for the Stockholm Water Festival and round in Stockholm, and an indoor-version that toured around Sweden before "Oratio på Pottan" at last reached its final two-act version. In the fall of 1996, a new actor, Elias Wåhlund, was introduced in the show. Elias took the part of Oratio after Johan Starck-Stormdal, who up till then had doubled as both Pantalone and Oratio. Through the time that we have played the performance it has had time to develop a great deal. It has been very well received by audiences and the media .
