The
workshops in physical theatre training that
Kompani Komedi leads have their base in the
training of the Theatrestudio. A theatrical
training that starts in the actors' body as means
of expression and has as a goal to take away the
obstacle and blockings that are in the way of the
artistic creation in the actor. Since Kompani
Komedi has its roots in the Theatrestudio and in
the Theatrestudio-training, it has become natural
to also teach the Theatrestudio-training at
Kompani Komedi. The Theatrestudio-training is
built from a number of movement-series' that help
the actor to find a inner and outer flow in the
movement and peel off external affectations and
conceptions in the communication. The training
also helps the actor to find a body awareness, to
overcome obstacles (internal and external) that
block expression, and to liberate one's impulses.
One of the bases in the Theatrestudio-training is
to begin the work in ones body (as the only
concrete thing we have to work with) to be able
to open up the actor to his inner and outer
impulses and reactions (imagination, memories,
associations, feelings and such). The philosophy
behind the Theatrestudio-training comes from
teachers and directors such as: Jerzy Grotowski,
Vsevolod Meyerhold and Eugenio Barba among
others. -"If
I'm happy - I dance, If I dance - I'll become
happy." Vsevolod Meyerhold
