Icelandic presidents on stamps.

On the 17:th of June 1944, Iceland became completely independent. Until then Iceland had been an independent state within the Kingdom of Denmark.

Icelandic presidents have appeared several times on stamps:

Svein Björnsson (1881-1952) - President 1944-1952

Asgeir Asgeirsson (1894-1972) President 1952-1968.

Kristian Eldjarn (1916-1982) - President 1968-1980.
