  • MORNING PAPER TIMING DEVICE
    • Background
      Each time the morning paper is delivered later than 06.00 I get one extra issue for free.
      Since I donīt get up until about 07.30, I made this device to record the arival time of the
      morning paper.
    • Design
      The device mainly consists of a cheap LCD alarmclock, a cheap LCD stopwatch,
      a microswitch at the mailbox lid, and some simple circuitry for interfacing between the devices. Everything except the microswitch is contained in a plastic box with a common battery holder, and a window for the watches displays.
    • Function
      The alarmclock is set to midnight,
      the alarm signal is used to reset and start the stopwatch,
      the stopwatch is stopped by a signal from the mailbox lid.
      The arival time of the paper can now be read on the display of the stopwach.
      At midnight the stopwatch is automaticlly reset and started again,
      and this goes on as long as the battery lasts.
