Reading for me is a relaxation and reality escape, but it is also a great way to learn English since I only read books in English. Not because I don't like Swedish but since most fantasy books, the ones that I read, are written in English and I thinks they lose alot in the translation.

Fantasy for me is the escape to a distant, wonderful world of legend inhabited by elves, faeries, dragons and other mythical beasts. It's also a world of magic, great adventures, mighty battles and quests against the dark, evil lords That's why I'm so fascinated by the fantasy world created by great writers like Robert Jordan, J.R.R. Tolkien and Ursula Le Guin.

"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the third Age by some, an Age to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings of endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning."

This is the first five lines in the magnificent book Eye of The World , which is the first of seven books in a serie called The Wheel of Time written by Robert Jordan. It is a typical fantasy book but the typical stops here because you do not see a clear good and evil side.

The Wheel of Time series is currently my favorite series of fantasy books. It has been for quite some time, and is likely to remain so for quite some time. The series, is an epic currently consisting of six books, with at least two more on the way.

I've always liked long stories, particularly in the fantasy and science fiction genres because long stories allow not only for greater character development, but also for greater world development. One of my great pleasures in fantasy and science fiction is the creation and realization of a new world, created by the author's own imagination.

In this regard, Robert Jordan is virtually without peer among modern fantasy writers. The Wheel of Time is a richly developed, wonderfully detailed world. The history of the world, the intricate plotting, the ploys and counterploys of the various characters, and the near-perfect attention to detail by the author make this a wonder in my eyes.

The books tell a story about the boy Rand al'Thor and his friends Mat and Perrin. They a driven into a hunt where no one can see a clear end. The only thing they know is that if the don't flee, both them and their families will die. They are led by the sorceress Moiraine who is a Aes Sedai. With her she's got a Warder who protects her.

Through the books you'll follow Rand and his friends through good times and bad times, through friendship and betrayal. But most important through his battle with the Dark One, the evil one that is breaking out of his imprisonment...
