Maria Rose

Maria Rose comes originally from Poland where her musical education combined with her childhood in a beautiful garden, cared for by her grandmother, artist and designer. She inspired Maria to weave forms and colours into collections of fabrics and garments.

Working with different natural fabrics such as wool,
silk and linen, she has produced her own collections
and sold to many boutiques around Europe for the last
25 years. The past 15 years she has specialized in
producing her own garments in hand painted silk. She
designs collections of dresses, scarves and shawls and others ladies' attires. She also cooperates with other designers like Gunilla Pontén and Marimekko.

From Maria Rose to You

"Each and every one of my creations is unique.
Painted by hand in the Japanese tradition, inspired
by nature and various cultures' traditional designs or
some of the master artists. So I wish that your day
will be filled with beauty and happiness".

All the garments are made in Sweden in cooperation
with small handicraft companies run by women.

The Fabrics and The Colours

The story of each garment begins with white silk. The
quality is carefully selected. It is then painted with
different brushes according to a traditional Japanese
thechnique originally used for painting Kimonos.
Steaming at high temperature fixes the colours. This
process insures that colour is permanently retained
and allows the silk to be washed with water and to
release the excess dye. It is then ironed and dried
ready to be cut into patterns and designs ready to be
sewn. The basis of Maria Rose Silk Colours is organic.
No chemical components are used. Maria Rose Silk Colours
are sold on the Swedish market.
