OVERVIEW
This is my first attempt at utilizing the
surprisingly small assortment of Aiel forces in the Premier edition.
Since there really aren't enough Aiel yet, this deck contains
Aiel, Dragon, and Mercenary forces only (keeping as close to
the Theme as possible). Anyway, we will use Rand IV for this
one (the Flutist), and we will attempt to overwhelm our opponent
with sheer numbers. You'll probably need Pattern to recruit Amys,
but that's OK. You'll get it back pretty quickly. While none
of the troops are exceedingly powerful, your opponent will hate
this deck if he plays monster troops against you (Wolves and
Scouting Party have special abilities against monsters, and all
Aiel are very high Combat). Since the majority of the Aiel cards
are characters, we've included Heroic Efforts to aid in troop
damage, and Overrun to damage his characters. We'll use Resupply
to help us heal, and Raw Recruits to retrieve the ones we lose.
Once Rhuarc is in play, our Aiel characters become exceedingly
tough. If your opponent uses troops, we'll use Blood Tide and
Heroic efforts to kill them off with our 'Super Aiel'. If he
uses characters, Blood Tide alone should suffice (if he decides
to test his luck). Use Perrin's ability to place his damage himself
to strategically eliminate opposing characters, and use Elyas
to cycle your Wolves into your hand. You'll only be able to recruit
Aiel troops with Amys, Berelain, and Mat the Warrior until you
get Rhuarc out, but this shouldn't be too tough. Rand will rise
to 5 One Power pretty quickly, and once he has the Saidin Angreal,
he should quickly rise to rolling 7 One Power dice a turn. With
this Rand, you only need 3 to play Carpe Fatum, so they should
be a snap. Once you replace Rand, he'll need 4 One Power to play
it, but you'll still be able to play them fairly easily. At this
point, you already have at least 8 Pattern, so Rhuarc is either
out, or will be as soon as you draw him, and Rand the King will
have the Aiel allegiance to simplify your recruitment efforts.
Use Longbow mainly to encourage your opponent to keep his characters
out of challenges; if he goes into one anyway, attack his best
character with Longbow for some easy damage. While not the best
card for use in most decks, with the Aiel's high concentration
of Combat ability, this card can become very usefull. Advantages
are kept to a minimum, so that you can use Lucky Find to get
them, and no matter which you decide to grab it should prove
useful. While this deck is currently limited in some respects,
as a damage-type deck it shoud prove useful. Once Children
of the Dragon is released, I'm sure that there will be better
Aiel decks out there, but I would think that damage would still
be an integral part of all of them.
Total: 50 cards; 4 Opening
hand, 46 deck.
