The Pbv 302 is a very good IFV. Especially
considering that it is thirty years old. It allows the rifle squad to
fight mounted and has proved itself to offer good protection to enemy
fire in Bosnia. It went totally
unchanged from prototype to serieproduction which probably is unique. It
constitutes the backbone of the mechanized infantry and has done so
since the late sixties. Today CV-90, BMP-1 and MT-LB are used as well
but this vehicle really made the Swedish mechanized infantry what it is
today. Without the best vehicle in its class when it entered service it
still ranks above many more modern designs. |
