IFPI Sweden is an industry organisation which represents record
companies and their rights. As part of this work, we monitor the
Internet, and take action against any persons who use music in a
manner which contravenes the Copyright Act.

Since IFPI has established that you are supplying copied sound files,
in your case in Mpeg-3 format, via the Internet, IFPI wishes to inform
you, through this letter, of the legal rules involved in this.

Transferring works of music from phonograms to, for example, Mpeg-3
format is, from a legal point of view, equivalent to copying.
Supplying copied sound files via the Internet protected by copyright
requires, under the Copyright Act, materialpermission from the
appropriate rights owner. Supplying copied sound files without such
permission constitutes a breach of the Copyright Act.

IFPI would also like to bring to your attention that participating in
a breach of the Copyright Act is a criminal offence. It is, therefore,
forbidden to offer for sale, supply etc., copied sound files via the
Internet, even if such files are physically stored outside the borders
of Sweden.

A breach of the Copyright Act can, after a complaint from the rights
owners, on whose instructions IFPI acts, lead to a term of
imprisonment of up to two years, fines and substantial damages.

We hereby urge you to cease supplying copied sound files via the
Internet immediately.

Please bear in mind that IFPI Sweden will be checking that the
above-mentioned activity has ceased.
