Age of renaissance

Map options overlays.

When age of renaissance was released in european language (French, German and Italian) versions by Eurogame, the designer Jared Scarborough wanted some map changes implemented. They never actually made it into the game.
They would help London, Hamburg, Paris and Genoa respectively.
It is also recommended to move a TIMBER card from epoch 2 to epoch 1, to help Hamburg.

This page displays these changes as map overlays. Print these images and place them over your Age of renaissance map to reflect the changes. I have verified with Jared that these are indeed the changes he intended.

UPDATE 28 nov 99. The overlays were to large and to dark. Reduced them to 97% and made them brighter.

The links on the images are to a better resolution gif-file. However, I doubt it will give you anything but marginally better print quality.

1. London connects with Chester, allowing London to have one more Domination Marker Turn on Turn #1

2. Novgorod absorbs Smolensk. Thus, Hamburg is a bit closer to Area V if it buys both Galley 2 and Caravan on Turn #1.

3. The W. Med./E. Med/ Libya/ Barca sea border is flipped so that Genoa can buy The Heavens on Turn #2 and reach Alexandria (ahead of Venice and Barcelona).

4. An extra French wine province (Loire) between Paris and Bordeaux would help Paris.
