A list of a few of my Mac utility programs that I have decided to make public.
You may copy and use these for your own personal use, but not redistribute without my express permission. © 2000 Christian Beijner.

Any program marked (Applescript) has code included. You can study these to see what they do, or for your own Applescripts. If you reuse any code, please give credit where credit is due.

MacOS util

What does it do?

Clip to Internet file.

 

This key places the text in clip in a clip file on the desktop. If the clip is a html or e-mail address, the file will be one of Apple's Internet files.

Requires system 7, but really wants 8.5 or later. (Whether it works under OSX remains to be seen)

Filename to clip

Select a file, and it's full pathname ends up in the clip, and can be pasted into a document.

Sort files by html comment. (Applescript)

Sorts files downloaded on the Mac after the Internet location indicated in the comment.

 

Rename by html comment
(Applescript)

 

Renames or adds aliases based upon the Internet location indcated in the comment.

 

Save/Restore desktop
(Applescript)

Saves/restores the icon positions on the desktop.

 

Save/Restore selection
(Applescript)

 

Saves/restores the Finder selection.

 

Rebuild desktop NOW.
(Applescript)

 

Restarts the Finder, giving you the opportunity to rebuild the desktop.

 

Other util

What does it do?

 

Set Olympus creation date to snap date.

It sets the creation date of digital images taken with an Olympus camera to the same date as the images were taken (snapped) with the camera.
