Mission: Repulse the raiding party attacking the village from the
north across the bridge.
Difficulties: Unit usage.
Some coordination.
Main threats: Soulless.
Hints:
Ghôls can outrun any unit in your force, but not arrows.
The dwarf can cause mayor havoc among the thrall, but he is
vulnerable to soulless.
Enough hints, play this level till you get small losses at normal and
you should do alright in later levels.
Film: No casualties.

The explanation |
|
While watching the small hamlet of Crow's bridge - supposedly far behind the front - we were suddenly jumped by the enemy. Alert cries came from the bridge and our sentries there. Captn sent 2 of those Firbolg fellows and 2 of the warriors, not toward the bridge but, to flank the bridge and told them to watch for any enemies that might have gotten through. The rest of us rushed towards a defensible position midway to the bridge |
|
The first enemy wave consists of dozen or so Thrall plus 4 Ghôls, 2 each moving along the rivers backs trying to catch your force in a flank. Move your two warriors at the bridge back to where the four other warrior stand. Move 2 archers WNW to within bowshot of the west river, and 2 more NW within bowshot of the north river. Split the 4 warrior in support of these archers, but place them closer to the river. Move the rest of the troops at the square to join the two warriors from the bridge.

|
That madcap of a dwarf Hadding rushed forward. "Gonna cook me some thralls. Haha". And that he did. Meanwhile both our flanks became embroiled in fights with some kind of ugly monkeys. Ghôls I hear they are called. |
|
When the Ghôls come, your archers should be able to fire arrows at them while the warriors chase them. Move the dwarf forward to throw bombs at the thrall in formation at the river. Pull him back temporarily when they give chase and completely when the soulless arrive. Correctly executed this should now have eliminated the entire first wave.

|
The soulless came across the bridge, the floating skulls. Things became a bit hot for Hadding who retreated, still blasting away. Then our flankers came back and hit the soulless, and Hadding blew away the thralls, the archers shoot some soulless. Suddenly, the remaining soulless retreated without getting near us. So that's my first battle, all I did was standing in line. Captn says I did alright obeying orders and not rushing headlong into battle. I feel a bit cheated. Guess it's better than being dead. |
|
Once the Ghôl are killed by an archer/warrior force move them to the small hill close to the remaining warriors, there should be one on each side. From here the archers can pick of soulless with the warriors in close support against incoming Thrall. The dwarf can be used against thrall or soulless if he is unhurt, the remaining warriors can be used instead if he is.
