Myth films on slow computers.

On slow computers - like mine - the playing the Myth cutscenes results in choppy graphics. Here is how to view them anyway. I got information from alt.games.myth, but had to do a lot of trial and error to get it right. This thursdays - for the first time - a saw the Myth introduction w/o choppines. Whee!
Note that this is written for the Mac, but PC user can hopefully gain some info from this.

1. Get the tools
a) Get Kris Amico's Myth Extractor from:
http://www.kwaltd.com/myth/tools.htm
If using a PC you will need a similar utility that lets you extract data from the cutscene.gor file.

b) Get smacker player from
http://www.smacker.com/smkdown.htm

c) Get some util that changes file type and creator, like Resedit.
There are tons of such utils at www.shareware.com
If using a PC you dont need this.

2. Extract the data.
Run your extractor.and extract the data. If using Myth extractor make sure that General Edit is chosen and that Add patch header is NOT checked (see below). That way you will get the right kind of file directly. Other extractors might leave a 64 byte header which you must remove in some way.
(I have an utility for this, but you wont need it when using Myth extractor. Nice program Kris)

3. Set the file type and creator to "Smk2". (Yes, both the same)

4. Select 256 colors displayed on your screen. Very important.

5. Double-click the file. (or start smacker)
Smacker starts.
Select Preload.
Select Don't Skip. This will kill sound before chopping pics.
Play!
