Mission: Escape from the city of Covenant by moving your force from the west side of the map to a tunnel on the east side, while keeping the Journeyman alive.
Note: I will present the "smart" way of solving this. There is another way which allows you to take the straight route. Seth Lipton has done this with no casualties. I bow to the master. His method is described at Myth BattleZone. It's possible, but requires god timing. Try it if you like testing, but if something goes wrong it can go very wrong.
Difficulties&Main Threat: This map has several different types
of threats, which one is the greatest challenge depends on your style
of play. Overly aggressive play can wear you down.
Hint:
Take out any wight with archery, before they come close to your units.
After surviving the initial assault, go northeast and wade the swamp rather than taking the road.
Keep your archers alive, they are your most valuable asset (as usual?).
Film: No casualties.

The explanation |
Now that we had the Codex, we would have to make a run for it. We set our hopes on a secret tunnel in the east suburbs. But we were still close to the city. |
You start on the west side of the map. As always make some good preselections. |
We were beset by thrall, many thrall advancing. Our archers and dwarves started harassing them as they advanced towards us. |
You will be attacked by several waves of thrall, followed by singular wights. If you have good coordination skills, send both your dwarves forward to harass the approaching thrall, with the archers at medium distance. If your coordination and speed is so-so, use the initial lull to pull your infantry back and send one dwarf forward. |
Despit the dwarves efforts, things were starting to go out of our hands, as our line were intermixed with the attacking thrall. Our archer shoot wights to the left and right. |
With the thrall decimated, refocus the dwarf on another wave and send your infantry in against the hurt thrall. Keep your archers shooting at any wight within range, or at unengaged thrall. That is thrall not fighting your infantry. |
Suddenly all the enemy was dead. |
You should survive this initial encounter. Your skills and luck will determine the friendly body-count. Unless you got at least 4 archers left, preferably all, you will probably be toast in the rest of the mission. Go northeast into the swamp, do not follow the road. |
As we waded the swamp. Wights appeared. I still have bad memories from Madrigal, but our archers took them out. We could se many enemy on the south shore of the swamp and we figured we had taken the right way. |
In the swamp wights will appear. You must take them out with your archers. Your infantry and dwarves are like a convoy that needs escorting. Stay as much as possible on the islands and when wading, stay in the dark, shallow area of the swamp. Wights can hide completely in the deep parts. Do not go to far south. If you see units on the south bank (marked on map), do not go any further south, or this roundabout route will be for naught, as hordes of myrmidons charge your hapless squad. |
Some thrall tried to stop us. |
Clear out the wights. This part will be much like Madrigal. There is a force of thrall in the swamp, but this is only a diversion. You can probably take them out easily. |
A strange shape could be seen in the distance. We figured it was an enemy and prepared to fight. Suddenly he turned into a bunch of crows and disappeared. No I swear! |
As you reach the eastern shore you will see a bad guy, Soulblighter. He will be your arch-nemesis during your missions. For now he laughs and flies away. | |
As we walked east we ran into more of the enemy or you could say they ran into us. |
There is a path you can follow. You will run into at least two patrols of thrall. Soften them up with grenades and archery fire, and let the warriors finish them of if necessary. As always, make sure the dwarves and archers do not fire into the backs of your troops by pulling them back, or selecting them and pressing the space bar (assuming thats your stop key). |
"Where is it?" |
The path should reach the road in a fork. To the south
southeast of this fork lies the tunnel entrance. Move close
to it and your troops will turn blue as the computer assumes
control and moves them into the tunnel. |
