Mission: Kill 4 Trow threatening the forest.

Difficulties:

Overconfidence?

Main threats: 4 Trow.

Hints:

You have got 3 forest giants. Since you can use them against each of the Trow in turn this mission should be easy. Just dont let the Trow rip into your other troops.
Dont rush headlong forward and this mission should be a cakewalk.
Remember the thrall out of the water on Crow's bridge. It will happen again so keep your eyes open and the berserkers close to your archers.
2 Trow are in the Northeast and 2 in the East.
The archers and giants should do much of the work. Dont let the berserkers get in their way.

The explanation

Poor scouts.

When you start the game the minimap will be focused where the majority of your forces are. But the action on the screen will be your scouts being overrun by a force of a Trow and Myrmidons. I do not know any way of rescuing a single one of them. Just try to inflict maximum damage on the myrs before the Trow kills them. Attacking the Trow is just lining up to be slain.

Luckily you have 3 forest giant reinforcements. The 3 myrmidons approaching you position should be no problem, just avoid exposing your archers to them. And watch their fire.

I guess it does not matter whether you go east or northeast first. I went northeast. There is a bridge there protected by soulless. Get your archers to pick of the soulless. Keep the berserkers back, they will just get in the way.

A Trow is patroling off northeast of the bridge. When he hears the commotion, he will wade the waters and attack. Keep all three forest giants near the river bend to stave him off, or he can cause considerable damage.

Beyond the bridge is a squad of myrs. Line up your archers on both side of the bridge, put one forest giants on the south corners of the bridge and march the third one across. He will attract the attention of the myrs and the second Trow. Rush him back and your archers can soften up the opposition before letting the giants trounch on them. The myrs might retreat back if noone is on the bridge. If so repeat.

In retrospect, marching a giant across might have been a good idea, to act as support on the northern land tongue near the eastern bridge. Anyway march your troops to the eastern bridge.

Again soulless for target practice. Also there are a group of myrmidons moving towards the river and retreating. They are just a decoy. Put your archers far east near the river bend and berserkers on each side of the bridge. You can pick of the myrs till...

The trap is sprung. Have not quite figure out when this happens, but if you kill all myrs advance a Trow across the bridge and it will be sprung. Thrall will come out of the water and attack. If you kept your archers to close to the bridge and was not watching (pressing F2 perhaps, I know I did first time around) they will crash into them. Let the berserkers work for once and charge forward. Stop the archers or they will hurt you more than the enemy.

Get your archers and forest giants across the bridge first and let the archers kill the soulless on the hill. This hill is a good defensive position and you should rush for it. Ignore the line of thrall and soulless approaching from the east. A few myrmidons will get in your way, let the berserkers or giants have some fun.

You should ignore them because they could be followed by a Trow with myrs. There is a ramp leading up to the hill. Put the berserker protecting this ramp a bit back leaving space for the giants in front, and the archers south of the berserkers but at the ledge. Have the giants clobber the soulless and thrall. Pull back and put the giants protecting the top of the ramp. If no Trow comes have the least hurt giant scout east. When the Trow comes, soften him up with the archers and let the giants deal with him.

Move the archers to north of the ramp, still on the hill. Let a giant scout northeast and he will attract the attention of the last Trow, the one that killed your scouts. Run back with him and block him at the ramp. Done.

What's this? Crows?

Oh, no! Not him!

As your troops start cheering, Soulblighter will fly in and capture them in the Tain.
Not much you can do except prepare for the next level.
