Tournament report.
Pathethic excuses. 13 feb much later.
(Does anybody read this?)
Today I have been thinking about what I should have done
different. That's the charm with Myth, you can analyse the game and
say, I did this wrong, I'll do better next time, or at least die
differently.
I should have moved my wight in as a bomb or diversion on carnage, or
made a deal with nr 4 to switch flags.
Now the pathetic excuse ;-)
I was playing at 3 AM friday the 13th, everybody(?) else was playing
on thursday 12th, of course I had more bad luck than the others. To
booth I had a really hard time getting to work in the morning and a
black cat crossed my path on my way home (Yes, really). Good thing
there's only 45 mins left of this day.
Oh yeah! Go Trout, win!
2nd round report. 13 feb
Well just played the second round of the tourny.
It was territories on Grave, Flag rally on Carnage and Capture on
Mudpit.
Everything worked OK again, good work, Endo. I played from home on my
modem, and there were complaints of lag. My fault I guess, but I have
had much, much worse.
Opponents were (from memory) LordBob, Trout, Kamen, and Psycho.
(strange letters ignored). Play was much more defensive than the
earlier games. I really wish the had put Bacon or LMotH in. Hope they
do for last round.
I was very tired and only have the film of the last map.
(Still tired, sorry)
I have not looked at the films either so recollections here are
pretty onesided.
I will put the rest here if someone in the round mails them to me.
First game saw skirmishing and not much else.
I managed to stupidly lose 1 dwarf and 2 archers to a wight I saw. I
thought I was out of range.
Bob wins, Trout, Me, Kamen and Psycho.
Second round was Flag rally on Carnage.
It was pathetic. With 5 people on this game, there were no openings
anywhere. Everybody just defended their flag. I tried to scout for
weaknesses but found none. Tried to move my force before the end, but
the clock was 1 minute left before I knew it, and I would have
failed, since everybody was pretty much full strength at the
flag.
I came last because of the random setup. Baahhh!
Third round was captures on Mudpit.
Again mostly skirmishing as I saw it. I did overwhelm a Ghol-heavy
mixed force and capture 3 balls, while unintentionally pushing the
balls into deep water. Last minute I lost 1 ball for a few seconds
and ended up 2nd. Trout won. Kamen 3rd, Bob, Psycho.

Trout won total. Congratulations. Even if I do not count
the middle game, Trout won by a margin so he was a worthy winner.
Good luck in the finals.
I ended up 4th, tied 2nd if we dont count the middle game.
12 feb
I have checked some sites and there was some grumping
about the tournament.
Let me say that when I played everything went very smoothly. Thanks,
Sir Loin, who was our Bungie referee. The time limit was shortened
from 12 to 8 minutes, since 12 minutes would take more than an hour.
We managed to finish in exactly one hour with the tie-breaker.
It was very tight and we all ended up with 10 or 11
pts.
I won the first match closely over duckU.
LOKI won the second big.
Satan won the third.
duckU managed to do well - but not best - in all games.
I think I just happened to have a little more luck today.
I had expected some tricks, with 2 (or 3?)
beta-players,
but it seemed like any normal set of games to me.
Summaries of the games. I am pretty tired and must get to
bed to get up in time for next round, so I'll keep it short.
Last man on the Hill on Grave
LOKI rushes the hill. He starts skirmish with Sat..
and we others creep up on him, the skirmishes increases as LOKI is
assailed from three sides and he is walled in on the hill. As the
clock ticks down the fighting increases to a mad meat-grinder at the
flag. LOKI has somehow survived his precarious position and everybody
takes part. The melee unit melt away. In the end its down to my
archers against duckU's. I have an archer pummel one of his to death,
only to be shot by friendly fire in the back.

Flag Rally on Carnage.
Well, I made an absolute fool of myself. Sent my
ghôls out in the wrong directions and forgot my presets.
Finally in the end I threw myself against a strong position. A well
deserved last place.
LOKI won big and managed to take all flags by quick ghols or
gathering power overtaking a flag, while still managing to protect
his own flags.

Territories.
Everybody seemed work along the sides of the map. Some
interesting skirmishes. In the end Sat.. comes out and captures
4 flags.

Tie-breaker
just me vs. duckU
I started in the southwest, one of the worst positions. Tried
to rush up to the flag to get at duckU before he was organised or
just try to maximize archer time. However he had the unfortune to
start in the southeast which lies further away, so I reached the top
first. 5 minutes is not nearly enough time to dislodge someone from
the hill in Grave, but duckU did try.
