I am trying to put together a guide over slopes/hangs etc, where the conditions are good. Hammar is the place where I will fly most of the time. This is also the place where I took my license. People say this is the best hang in Sweden because of the regular wind from the sea. Try it out yourself or take a look at the guided tour below.

Where is the Hanggliding location?

This is the area in wich I live. Ystad is my hometown and if you follow the road to the east towards Simrishamn to where it takes off from the coast. There is a little road leading down to a small place called Hammar. As you approach you can see the hang from far. It is a widespread hang that starts just before Hammar and goes on for almost 8 km. The best place to hangglide is to start at Hammar and then glide along the cost to a place called Ale Stenar. To the right of Hammar there is a lot of small slopes, in wich the instructor train the beginners. Not only hanggliders use this beutiful place. Paragliders and all kinds of aviation people assemble to enjoy the sights and to fly different aircrafts. Sometimes there are radiocontrolled aircrafts in the air. In the summer it can get crowded, but since there are a lot of good hang possibilities to the left of Hammar, it is usually no problem.

Kåseberga

This is a picture taken from the east towards Kåseberga. The hills goes on all the way to Hammars Backar. As you can see it is a heaven for gliders. The environment around this place is really beautiful. There are attractions as "Ale Stenar" and the small village Kåseberga with fishburgers (recommended!). The houses remind of the old ages. If you have never been there, take a look at the map, pack something to drink with your smoked fish from Kåseberga and then sit on the hills and watch the silent gliders fly past you in the warm wind from the sea. It is a feeling of greatness, thoughts travel back in time.
