Nokia feeling for me is: subtle, quality, compact, pure, detail awareness and tactile feeling. And some shapes that are coming back in Nokia products. My goal has been to make the server less dramatic and high-tech. The server is small, compact, and clean with flat a surface that gives freedom to design many different shells. It has many ventilation holes because this server will probably work a lot. There are probably more holes than needed, and that gives room for decorations, feet, and hangers if you won’t have a shell. Because it is simple, the details have to be very nice to make it look reliable and give a serious impression (Nokia feeling). This is a product you really have to trust and rely upon. The modules will have the same shape as the server but smaller. They are colour coded which will make the technology discussion less dramatic and more metaphoric. The green module could be the icon for the things that it is taking care of. Recycling, gardening, weather, etc.
- Oh, have you heard that Nokia have released the new green module...
The colour is a very important factor. Bright pastel colours might look toyish, sporty and less serious than more sophisticated colours. But you can play with it if the shell is translucent. A “wild” colour can be cooled down with a shell. The design can be the same, but different colours attract different target groups.
