Unreal Review
I got this game at the 5:th of June, I installed it, and I´ve played it ever since.
I´ll start to tell you about the Story.
You have crash landed on a unknown planet, called Gryphon. The nativities, the Nali´s have lived there a very long time. In peace. The bad guys, the Skaarj´s also have crashlanded there, and they are killing the Nail´s. You have to: 1. Get home, and 2. Save the Nali´s fron the Skaarj´s.
Now the Single Player Part:
You start without a gun, and half dead after the crash in your ship. Almost all the crew is dead. You walk around in the ship, and then, you see a Skaarj torturing the last living humans. When he sees you, he runs, and you run after him. After following him a while, you see and pick up a Dispersion Pistol, the first weapon. You try to kill the Skarrj, but you never succedes. After some running around, you find the door to the ship, and get outside.
That was the first, and smallest level. There are about 25 more levels, and even for a good player, one level can easaly take up to 2 hours to complete. You get you´re missions in a translator, like the one in Quake 2. You might ask if the Single Player part is better in Unreal than in Quake 2. The answer is yes. Almost every part is better than in Q2.The only thing that is rather bad in Unreal is the Weapons. They are not as cool as the ones in Quake 2 and Turok. Quake 2 was almost only Shoot em Up, but in Unreal it is more problem solving. The monster AI is much better than in Q2. The Skaarj´s jumps around making them very hard to hit. When they are almost dead the may try to escape to call for help. The monsters are much cooler than the ones in Q2. The Skaarj´s have about ten other helpers, some are weaker, and some are stronger than the Skaarj´s. If you thought the levels in Quake 2 are bigger than the levels in Unreal, you are wrong. The levels are about five (5!) times bigger than the Q2 levels.
Now the multiplayer part:
There are about ten DM maps, and all of the are very good. You can also play DarkMatch, Coop Game, and King of the Hill. The multiplayer part is better than in Quake, and MUCH MUCH better than in Quake 2. Most of the weapons are very good for muliplayer. It is much more tactics in Unreal than in any other game. (Except for the strategy games) One weapon, the Hunting Rifle has a unique zooming ability, so you can be far away, and still kill the opponents. There is also a built in bot, like the reaper bot, so you can play multi play, without having a modem.
Summary:
The best game ever, the ultimate Quake (2) killer.
