About memory sticks

As far as memorysticks are concerned. Don't worry about them. I doubt if anyone has dozens of CF cards around that will go to waste and, if you are upgrading from another camera you would, of course, sell the memory cards along with it and get a few more $$. Since memorystick is exactly the same price as CF cards, it is a non-issue. Soon Memorysticks will be used in so many different applications and products that they will be as common to transfer data as Zip disks are now! Olympus has signed on as a

manufacturer supporting memorystick so I expect to see the end of Smartmedia fairly soon. CF cards have reached the limit of Type I cards and all the new hi capacity cards are going to be Type II. Which will force almost all of the current models of digicams to be scrapped! The 256Mb Memorystick will be the same form factor and work in the same devices as the 4Mb memorystick and, with a upper limit of 1 Gb in the memorystick design parameters, there appears to be lots of room to grow!
