So, the first thing you wonder is why start a page for games
6 (!) years old. Truly this is a eon in the computer world and we
have seen many revolutions since and indeed have many good
games come out since. So let me tell you why we embarked on this
lunatic project.

It started on a rainy summers day, Znipper and I had long
thought about combining our "talents" for a page. Ofcourse this had
to be on a subject of interest to both of us, we early aimed for games
as we had shared many gaming experiences throughout the years. It also
had to be a subject not entirely worn out where there wouldn't be lots of
pages better than ours, like the 101th Half-Life page. And finally it had to
be on a subject where there actually was something worth writing about
and ofcourse that we knew the game well enough to do this.

Faced with all these criteria we sat down and thought, we went
through and disposed of many ideas but finally decided on this. Indeed it
is a extremely "old" subject but it is definately a game that has lasted, with
good graphics at it's time, many hours of playing time, and good strategy.
And we definately knew the game, and there was definately lots to
write on the subject, and although not knowing for sure, I seriously
doubt there are many pages on the subject, atleast not any still active.

So here the page is, maybe not entirely completed but getting there.
Hopefully a sweet memory for those of you who've played and conquered
the game, re-inspiration for those of you who've tried and failed to bring
back the game from the dusty shelf and give the greys a good
whuppin and most hopefully an enlightment for those youngsters or
unfortunate ones to not have played the game when it came. Turn
towards the tide, the most recent games are not always the best, turn
back and dig up some of those classics that still last, search your game
store for the old bargain games, download it from some page that
features games not sold anymore.I hope we atleast can spark someones
interest in playing this good classic.

I can't speak on the avaliability of this game in stores nowadays,
as it's developer Microprose was consumed by Hasbro alot of things are
uncertain. I myself got lucky and got my hands on the X-COM
collection, a re-release by Hasbro of the 5 games of
the X-COM series in 1 package, a great deal as I would consider
atleast 3/4 of them really worth playing. If you can't find it in
any local store, download it.A game not commercially
sold they can't claim to loose any profit on.

Enjoy! Tigerius
